My musical background began with piano lessons in junior high, also during that period I got my first guitar and was eager to learn how to play. I was frustrated by the experience that started with just learning chords, after already having the ability to play music on the piano I quickly gave up on the guitar. I didn’t see an end to the sore fingers so I was a bit skeptical I’d have the same experience with Strum. I was pleasantly surprised by my first Strum lesson. For starters,  the link to my video lesson opened immediately to the lesson, without a hitch. The software Strum uses doesn’t require any additional download of software to your device making it easy to access from virtually anywhere. Second, Ryan got straight into teaching me Ode To Joy (imagine that - learning a melody on your first lesson, not just struggling through the awkward hand positions). Strum has curated videos of the sheet music that you follow while playing - it felt like playing guitar hero on a real guitar. Throughout the lesson I was able to see my instructor on the same screen and he was playing along with me and providing constructive feedback. As a total beginner my experience with the Strum LA program left me feeling like I could succeed in learning to actually play songs!

Evan is an awesome guitar teacher who makes learning guitar fun. He is very flexible and helps you figure out how you want to approach learning guitar whether it’s learning to play some of your favorite songs, learning techniques, or geeking learning complex music theory.

I never truly enjoyed music lessons until I discovered Strum LA. Evan and Ryan do a great job of meeting you where you’re at, taking the ‘chore’ out of lessons, and have a way of approaching music that make practice enjoyable! I’ve already noticed marked improvement and can’t wait to further my growth under their guidance.
