Frequently Asked Questions

Other than my guitar, what items do I need for lessons?

With just a computer equipped with a webcam and a high-speed internet connection, you can begin your Strum.LA lessons!

However, to create a more immersive experience, we recommend the following items:

  1. During your lesson, find a quiet room void of distractions. This will help facilitate the best use of your time and effort during your lesson.

  2. An additional screen or tablet allows us to provide you with additional on-screen materials and/or different camera angles on our guitar.

  3. A small foot stool can help create better posture and positioning for your guitar playing. Here is an affordable one that we use!

How long of a lesson should I book?

This depends on both your current ability, and how fast you would like to improve your playing. If you are a beginner looking to ease your way into the guitar and a new hobby, 30 minutes may be perfect for you. If you are more intermediate to advanced who is looking to rapidly up your guitar game, at least 45 minutes is ideal. If you are looking to learn a particular song you might have seen on our Youtube channel, booking an hour lesson is the best way to ensure we can fully equip you with the tools to learn the arrangement.

Do I need to download software to access my one-on-one video lesson?

Not if you are using your computer. At Strum.LA, we use the video-conferencing software Zoom. Zoom is a powerful platform providing us an easy way to connect you into your lesson, without requiring any additional software on your laptop or desktop.

After booking your lesson, we will send you a custom link via email. Once it is time for your lesson, simply clicking into your link will bring up the zoom chat window with your instructor. That’s it!

If you would like to connect with us using your smartphone or tablet, then you would need to download the app of off your device’s app store. You can use the links below to access the software on either the App Store or Google Play.
